01 · A SECOND WAY TO REVIEW

Your ears notice different mistakes.

After enough editing, you stop reading the words on the page and start reading what you expected to write. Listening changes the channel. Repetition sounds repetitive. Long sentences feel long. Missing words become difficult to glide past.

Read aloud is not a replacement for visual editing. It is a second pass that makes familiar text unfamiliar again.

02 · USE IT FOR MORE THAN PROOFREADING

Listen when reading is the bottleneck.

1

Review a draft

Hear rhythm, clarity, and missing language before you send or publish.

2

Understand dense text

Listen while following the page, or step away from the screen when your eyes need a break.

3

Check the tone

An email that looks concise can sound cold. Hearing it helps reveal the difference.

03 · READ ANYTHING FROM YOUR MAC

Copy. Listen. Keep working.

The free tool above is designed for one-off listening in a browser. AudioArcher for Mac makes the same behavior available from the menu bar: copy text from any app, choose Read clipboard aloud, and control playback from a small panel.

Pause to think, resume when you are ready, restart from the beginning, or stop immediately. The text is used to generate the audio and is not automatically saved as a note.

04 · COMMON QUESTIONS

Read-aloud FAQ

Is this read-aloud tool free?

Yes. This browser tool is free, requires no account, and uses a voice already installed on your device.

Is my text uploaded or stored?

No. The free tool uses your browser’s built-in speech system, so the text is not sent to AudioArcher or added to Memory.

Why are the available voices different on another device?

The free tool lists voices provided by your browser and operating system. Voice names, languages, and quality therefore vary by device.

Can I pause or restart the reading?

Yes. While the text is playing, you can pause or resume it, restart from the beginning, or stop it completely.

How does Read Aloud work in the AudioArcher Mac app?

Copy text, open the AudioArcher menu-bar app, and choose Read clipboard aloud. The playback panel lets you pause, resume, restart, or stop without keeping a browser tab open. Read Aloud is a Pro feature.
